The Hyslop Foundation is the owner of the private nature sanctuary and arboretum known as Hawthorn Hollow, and it is operated as a charitable organization. They teach people of all ages about the importance of protecting the environment. The varied topography of the forty acres includes an arboretum that spans twelve acres and two miles of trails that wind through the woods of the Pike River Valley.
The historic buildings are open to the public beginning in late spring and continuing through fall. During the months of May, June, September, and October, the Two Sisters Boutique is open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to four o’clock in the afternoon (if the weather permits) or by appointment.
