Civil-meuseum

The American Civil War Museum is one of a kind and cannot be compared to any other Civil War museum in the country. The Civil War is examined from the point of view of the citizens of seven states located in the upper middle west: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio. The museum’s primary focus is on the perspective of the people from these states. In addition to providing the northern states with a significant amount of the food and raw materials they required to continue the war, these seven states also contributed more than one million men to serve in the Union army.

The Museum explores how the American Civil War impacted the people living on the Western home front before, during, and after the war by connecting the causes before the war to the effects after the war. This is done through the use of personal stories and narratives.
